Radar Level Transmitter's installation position

The radar level transmitter should be installed to avoid contact between the sensor and the tank wall and should be kept at a certain distance from the tank wall. Because the radar level transmitter is measured by transmitting high-frequency microwave pulses along the detection component, the dielectric constant changes when these pulse waves encounter the measured medium, causing the emission. Therefore, if the installed radar level transmitter is too close to the tank wall, the dielectric constant of the tank wall may be obtained, which directly leads to the in accuracy of the measured parameters.


Correct installation method of radar level transmitter:

1. Installed one fourth or sixth of diameter.

Note:the minimum distance from the tank wall shall be one tenth of the tank height.

2. For conical tank top plane, it can be installed on the middle of the tank top to ensure the measurement of the conical bottom.

3. When there is a pile, the antenna should be aligned perpendicular to the surface. If the material surface is not flat and the cone angle is too large, the universal flange must be used to adjust the angle of the horn so that the horn is aligned with the material surface.(Due to the inclination of the solid surface it will cause the echo decay or even the signal loss .)

4. The radar level meter should not be installed above the inlet of the conical tank. When installing outdoors, it should be protected from sun and rain.

5. The Radar level sensor can not be installed in the middle of the arch and round tank top. When the radar sensor is installed in the middle of the arched and rounded tank top, not only the indirect echo but also the multiple echoes will be received. The multiple echoes may be larger than the threshold of the true echo signal, because the top can be concentrated by multiple echoes.

6. When the tank obstacles affect the measurement, the baffle-board must be installed for proper measurement.

7. The pipe joint height requirements, it must ensure that the antenna extends into the tank for at least 10mm
